Social Studies 8
In Social Studies this year we will be studying three units:
Historical Worldviews Examined
8.1 From Isolation to Adaptation: Japan
8.2 Origins of a Western Worldview:
Renaissance Europe
8.3 Worldviews in Conflict: The Spanish
and the Aztecs
Grade 8 expands on the concept of intercultural
contact and continues to develop historical
thinking skills through an examination of past
Social Studies classes are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and we try to and integrate some Language Arts into that time as well. On Tuesdays I teach a mini lesson and work on projects. On Thursdays the students have computer time to work on projects.
There are 2-6 projects in each of these categories, students can choose to do these projects (must choose a different category for each project)
